Car-hitting-a-bike accidents in NYC mapped in R.  One year’s worth.  Each accident is a red dot.  Each accident that was a fatality is in black.  The issue here was not to obscure the very worst , the deaths.  No matter of point size nor transparency helped to not obscure the deaths.  The solution turned out to be to use seperate layers.
